About Me

Welcome to my blog.  I’m a technology professional that started in the travel and transportation sector and have been very involved with the Internet for over 20 years.  I now work in the public sector.

I have the distinction of being labeled a Canadian Internet Pioneer and was featured in the Canadian Internet Handbook – 1994 and 1995 Edition, interviewed on CBC Venture and also in Macleans Magazine.  I created the first airline / travel website in the world (www.cdnair.ca) for Canadian Airlines.  It was very much a pilot project to demonstrate how much impact the Internet would have on travel.  The website was given distinction for three reasons

  1. The first airline website in the world!
  2. The first large, commercial website in Canada
  3. The first commercial website that demonstrated programmatic functionality using cgi-bin (airline schedules, departure and arrivals)

I worked for Canadian Airlines for about 10 years and Air Canada for 8 years as Chief Architect (CTO).  Given that Air Canada is based in Montreal and I am based in Vancouver, I chose to leave in 2008.

I am married to an amazing woman and have three children.

I love technology and its’ impact on our daily lives.  My thoughts and posts are reflections of my thoughts about life, family and occasionally a piece here and there about cool new products that get my attention.
