Highs and Lows

Well, the Olympics are the better part of a week behind us now.  What an experience!  I am so happy that the experience turned out to be all that I thought it would be.  For our city, our Province and our Country.

At work, we have been planning for this event for years.  It was so important to so many people that we were well positioned to properly support the arrival and departure of so many athletes, officials and media personnel.  The eyes of the world were on us and we shone.

It’s funny how you build everything up, work incredible hours and essentially run on vapour.   Everyone at work was so committed and focused, it is only now that we start to see things coming down.  This “coming down” has a very negative impact though as well.  The body let’s go of all it’s defences and is much more susceptible to sickness.

I don’t know what the answer is to prevent this from happening – other than potentially making sure that any and all appropriate preventative measures, such as vaccines are taken.  For myself, I am bored now having to sweat this flu out of my system.
