Apple ‘iPhone HD’ rumored with A4 chip, forward-facing camera

Rumours continue to be posted on the Internet but some of them have credible sources behind them.

Engadget has reported that the next iPhone to be released will dubbed the ‘iPhone HD’. The Wall Street Journal has also positioned that Apple will actually be releasing two versions of the phone, one which will support CDMA based carriers. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber responded to the report and pointed out that while it was virtually substance free, a number of details were deemed to be accurate, namely:

  • It will be based on the same A4 processor as the Apple iPad
  • It would sport a second, front facing camera
  • It would support third party multitasking

How many of these rumours is actually true remains to be seen but historically John Gruber has a pretty good track record . Gruber further commented that the HD monitor is plausible and will likely support double resolution of the existing iPhone 3GS.

Engadget has further reported that the iPhone HD will likely be announced on June 22nd 2010.
